October 27th, 2013, marked a truly historic day in Hawaii’s polo legacy: It was the biggest attendance ever recorded in Maui Polo Club’s century old history.

Drawing an incredible crowd was the appearance of big wave surfers and celebrated watermen Pete Cabrinha, Nakoa DeCoite, Jamie Sterling, Marlon Lewis, Francisco Porchella and Sierra Emory (amongst others) who mounted up for a great cause. Cars were two-deep on some parts of the upcountry Makawao field, where (despite the thick vog and frequent clouds), the shimmering Pacific Ocean was visible in the distance.

Bringing these adrenaline-fueled waveriders to the field was the idea to raise funds for Hawaii’s Children’s Cancer Foundation.
