Team Patron Chris Dawson decided to hire polo's hottest up and coming player, Jero Del Carril to play on the HPL team for the 2019 Colorado Open. HPL wanted to learn more about this athlete who Living Polo coined, the next "International Polo Star."

HPL: Does anyone else in your family play polo?

JDC: Yes, my father played polo all his life, and my younger sister started some years ago.

HPL: When did you know that you wanted to be a polo player?

JDC: I started when I was seven years old thanks to a very good friend of mine, Justo Mouriño, that insisted me to play against him. After that my family helped me and supported me to play. My father was my most prominent teacher and still is! Once I started playing a lot in the Argentine season, I always dreamt about playing polo for a living and the last couple of years in school was when I finally decided that I wanted to be a polo player.

HPL: What has been the biggest tournament that you have played in, to date?

JDC: The biggest tournament I have played to date is the Argentine Open that was a fantastic experience, and luckily I will be able to play it again this year.

HPL: Living Polo had called you the next International Polo Star, how does that make you feel?

JDC: Hahaha, I think its too much, I try to be the best player I can be and improve and get better by taking advantage of every opportunity that I have. I feel fortunate and grateful for the opportunities that organizations such as Valiente, have given me, where I was able to play with and against the best players in the world as well as King Power giving me the chance to play in the UK.

HPL: You’ve traveled all over the world to play polo, where is your favorite spot?

JDC: Luckily, I was able to travel and know amazing places thanks to polo, but I like playing in Argentina because it's my home and where I have my horses, family, and friends.

HPL: Where would you like to play next?

JDC: I enjoyed and had a great time in Palm Beach last season, so I would like to play there next.

HPL: What’s the one thing that you have with you all the time?

JDC: My rosary necklace.

HPL: How would you describe your playing style?

JDC: Hahaha, I don't know, I try to do what I can!! 😂 But I try to keep it simple and I enjoy it when the whole team participates and plays.
